A new book is in the works and I would love to have some feedback. Tentatively I am calling it Communicate, and pinning it to a poem of the same name:
Communicate
Communicate.
That’s what we try to do
share
bare your soul to
all who care to see
but carefully
for fragile contents
hide within.
All too often
the packaging
seems inappropriate
rough, brusque,
when in reality
fear of discovery
creates a sham
not “who I am.”
Confident?
Working on it,
bit by bit
building up
ability.
Not stability
for change remains
the one great constant.
Communicate, not teach––
not quite the same,
reach out to another
make sure to listen
find the wisdom of the other
share, bare, care
make no sham
for, like you, I am.
I have worked on several topics ranging from nature to the spiritual, political and international, in other words, all those things that capture me, and cause me to reflect on an instance, an issue, a thought. I can add poems to this blog or simply add them to Facebook or both. Facebook is not really natural terrain for me. I am posting another poem, Disordered Love:
Disordered Love
Perfect phrase for today
the love of things, of wealth
replaces love of others needs
replaces love of fellow man
Thus did Augustine say
is sin defined, when stealth
finds place before good deeds
when self-love’s good, prevents God’s plan.
Why do we avoid the word,
is sin no longer recognized?
Does selfishness alone prevail
and common interest not compel?
We all have undertaken acts absurd
when love disordered elevates unwise.
Would that we choose, we hail,
a world compatible for all therein who dwell.
I have another, a rather long one on the play Hamilton (loved it) that I’ll save until I hear from you.
