With luck and some steady application I am getting nearer to the next edition of my poetry, The title is Dancing for Joy, drawing from a few sources, but clearly referencing Pope Francis’ approach to the world in general and faith in particular. Some of my poems are partisan but I hope not polemical. The ssections I will address are: first, Every days joy of living; second; Nature’s Joy; Third, Our Deepest Joy, Next, Seeking Joy and last, Joy in Friends and Favorite Places. AS I post this blog it is mid Spring, so I share a poem of Spring:
Spring’s Surprises
Winter went unusually well
Mere sprinkling of storms
Snow well below average
And after the previous year
Of cataclysmic storms
New England seemed serene.
Odd, as if seasons were
Reversed, or mixed, March
Rose into days as warm as May
Claps of thunder that belonged
To Spring rumbled awake.
The take? El Nino or climate change.
The range of options, the choice
Of what to blame might
Be political––the human factor
Not to be believed, perhaps
Disparaged. Now, to our surprise
On Spring’s first day––oh! Snow!
